Calendar Time, space, and water
---
This calendar is the literal imagination of the  chapter Time, space and water of the publication Atlas of Dutch water cities. This chapter connects the themes terri-tory & climate, society, technol ogy and urban design to the development of water management on the coast, along the river and in the polder. In this picture table the themes of technology and urban design are, as much as possible, ordered by the functions of the water. Below the time line the themes territory & climate, and society are situated. The lines of the water functions show the period wherein the water structures were consciously designed and built for these usages. The function of storage was till 1990 solved with the construction of water for other usages. From 1990 water structures are also exclu sively built for storage. The line of hydraulic instruments is independent of the functions and shows methods of protection.
