Nancy Meijsmans (Ed.)  Designing for a Region --- ‘Designing for a Region’ is an outlook for new approaches in regional planning. To tackle spacial questions The regional scale becomes increasingly important in tackling spatial questions such as larger scale decisions regarding the accommodation of dwelling needs or water storage projects. However, regional plan and policy making are subject to difficult and time-consuming processes. This is partly due to the novelty of the task, but is also related to a large number of institutional and other actors – and consequently to the important amount of negotiations that have to be organized. New forms of regional planning In this book the role of design as a key instrument of new forms of regional plan making is incorporated within a broader exploration of the context and challenges concerning regional development and coproduction. In this respect, the book deals with aspects bearing both on space and governance. This publication has been made possible through funding by the Stimuleringsfonds voor Architectuur, Nicis Institute, the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). Series Explorations in/of Urbanism This book is part of the series Explorations in/of Urbanism. This series aims to fill a gap in the contemporary debate concerning urbanism. Each contribution to the series is a case study and an exploration in urbanism (the science of the city) as well as an exploration of urbanism (the discipline that acts upon the city). As a series, Explorations in/of Urbanism has the ambition to document and critically analyse a worldwide spectrum of changing urban conditions in interaction with the development of urbanism. Other books in this series are: Author information Nancy Meijsmans is a researcher at the Chair of Urbanism at Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) and the Catholic University Louvain (Belgium). |
