Han Meyer, David Waggonner, Dale Morris (Ed.)  Dutch Dialogues: New Orleans-Netherlands Common Challenges in Urbanized Deltas --- In late Summer, 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita laid to waste large segments of the US Gulf Coast and overwhelmed New Orleans. The Netherlands Government quickly dispatched emergency aid, pumps and engineers to help with disaster recovery. Since then, Dutch and American engineers have worked to improve the flood protection infrastructure around New Orleans, and are engaging in cooperative research to reduce subsidence, restore wetlands and enhance ecosystem resiliency along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. This book demonstrates that common challenges are better addressed together. Authors This book is written by: Han Meyer, Dale Morris, David Waggonner, Piet Dircke, Stijn Koole, Paul Farmer, Yolanda van der Meulen, Roelof Stuurman, Ton Schaap, Daniel Goedbloed, Robbert de Koning, Steven Slabbers. |
